    Initial 48 hours

    Introduction

Greetings! You’ve just begun your journey. What’s next?

If you haven’t gone through the tutorial yet, it’s a good idea to start there. (The tutorial features large arrows indicating various elements you need to interact with.) Additionally, if you haven’t finished the tutorial, keep in mind that you don’t need to use Gems to accelerate construction or acquire Resources for the next project. You can simply let the constructions complete at their own pace and allow your base to gather enough resources. The decision is up to you. Similarly, you don’t need to use all the Wizards; deploying just two next to the Cannon is sufficient.

    Alright, what’s next?

In the initial 48 hours, focus on enhancing your resource gathering structures, such as Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors, as well as your resource storage facilities, including Elixir and Gold Storage. Ensure that you have constructed all the available Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors. Once you have the opportunity, proceed to upgrade your Town Hall.

IMPORTANT: Enhance your Elixir Collectors and Gold Mines by upgrading them from the lowest tier to the highest tier.

IMPORTANT: At this stage, refrain from constructing defenses such as walls, traps, and similar structures, as they are unnecessary for now. You are protected by a 3-day shield (details to follow), which means you are safe from attacks until it expires. The remaining time for your shield is displayed by a counter located at the top-middle-right of your screen. You have the option to disable your shield prematurely by looking for a multiplayer match in the attack menu, but it is advisable to avoid this.

IMPORTANT: Avoid constructing an additional Gold Storage or Elixir Storage for now. Hold off for approximately a week in the game before proceeding with that (you’ll recognize the right moment).

    Two to three days

    Shield

Alright, you have roughly 24 hours remaining on your shield. What’s your next move?

Begin constructing and enhancing your defenses! The order of importance is as follows: Mortar, Archer Tower(s), Cannon(s). This indicates that you should upgrade your Archer Towers to level 2 prior to upgrading your Cannons to level 2.

You can protect your base by constructing Walls. To learn about designing your defenses, check out Flammy’s Guide to Base Defense Fundamentals.

Essential Dos and Don’ts for Quick Reference

    • Aim to enhance your Elixir Collectors and Gold Mines to a high standard, targeting level 5 for each within 48 hours, especially if you play actively.
    • Enhance your Elixir and Gold Storage when necessary.
    • Engage the goblins in the Single Player Campaign for a solid income during the initial days.
    • Construct an additional Gold Storage or an extra Elixir Storage for now.
    • Take the time to establish defenses prior to the final moment.~A full day of protection for you.
    • Engage in combat with other players in multiplayer mode, as this will cause your shield to deplete sooner than expected.
    • Use your Gems (details to follow).

    Commonly Asked Questions

If you have an inquiry that isn’t included in this list, don’t hesitate to send me a private message or respond to this post.

Q: What occurs when I come under attack?

    Defeating an Opponent

A: When you face an attack, you may lose some Resources and a handful of Trophies (we’ll discuss Trophies later, but they aren’t a priority at this moment). That’s all there is to it. Any Buildings, Defenses, or Walls that sustain damage or are destroyed will automatically return to their original state without any repercussions. Traps that are activated will need to be reset (they can only be used once per attack). This indicates that there are absolutely NO consequences if Army Camps, Barracks, Builder’s Huts, Walls, or Defenses are compromised.

If your Gold Mines, Elixir Collectors, Gold Storages, or Elixir Storages suffer damage or are destroyed, the enemy will seize a portion of the resources inside. It’s crucial to safeguard these structures.

    Q: What exactly are Trophies?

Trophies serve as the game’s indicator of skill level. When you triumph over an opponent, you gain Trophies, while they lose some. If an opponent attempts to attack you and is unsuccessful, they will lose Trophies, and you will gain a few. You can earn additional Trophies by defeating an opponent who has a higher Trophy count than you. Conversely, if you lose to someone with fewer Trophies, you will lose a greater number of Trophies.

Q: What exactly are Gems? Is it possible to acquire additional ones?

Gems serve as the premium currency within the game. They can be utilized to purchase additional Builder’s Huts, acquire shields (for durations of 1, 2, or 7 days), obtain resources, enhance Gold Mines and Elixir Collectors, instantly train troops, accelerate troop training rates, or invest in decorations (which are largely unnecessary). Among these options, only the Builder’s Huts provide a lasting advantage to your base. The other boosts and instant completions are temporary and expire after a few hours. Generally, players aim to conserve Gems to acquire a third Builder’s Hut, and potentially a fourth in the future.

Q: What additional resources are available? (Gold, Elixir)

In the game, there are two primary resources: Gold and Elixir.

Gold serves as a currency for purchasing, constructing, and enhancing Elixir Collectors, Elixir Storage, defensive structures, walls, traps, the Town Hall, and the Clan Castle. Players typically regard it as more precious, as it can be spent immediately on walls in virtually limitless quantities. To fully upgrade your walls, the total cost amounts to 4,816,815,000, or 4.8 billion gold, assuming you opt not to use elixir for the upgrades.

Elixir serves multiple purposes, including the acquisition, construction, and enhancement of Gold Mines, Gold Storage, Army Camps, Barracks, Laboratories, and Spell Factories. Additionally, it is essential for training troops and conducting research for upgrades in the laboratory. Once the Spell Factory is established, you can also utilize elixir to craft spells.

Q: Can you explain what the Shield is?

A: Shields protect you from attacks. You receive a complimentary shield whenever you sustain considerable damage (12 hours for being 40% damaged or losing your Town Hall, 16 hours for being 90% damaged). Additionally, you can purchase shields for 1, 2, or 7 days using Gems.

Q: What methods can I use to manage my troops?

A: You are unable to control your units once they are deployed. Position them close to the intended target. Each unit has a specific ‘favorite target’ that they will exclusively engage until that target is eliminated; only then will they attack other enemies. You can find this information, along with additional details, by clicking the ‘i’ info button in the barracks. Typically, units will prioritize attacking the nearest target they prefer. However, the presence of ranged units and walls can add complexity to this behavior. For a more comprehensive understanding of unit AI, pathfinding, and unit strengths, refer to the section on Unit Strengths, AI, and Pathfinding.

Q: What is the reason I don’t receive my units back following a battle?

A: To maintain equilibrium in the game. Picture a scenario where you could reclaim your incredibly powerful, highly lethal, and exorbitantly costly army if it endured the battle. You could launch relentless attacks throughout the day. This scenario also implies that your opponents could do the same to you. Consequently, it’s essential to deploy only the number of units necessary to conquer the current base, avoiding the squandering of units, time, and resources.

Q: Alright, I messed things up. Is there a way to start over?

A: Certainly, but it’s quite challenging. I wouldn’t advise starting over, even if you’ve encountered issues with all the items mentioned. To perform a reset, follow these steps: (The earlier version was updated in the February release. This method should be effective, but it’s even more difficult.)

    1. Uninstall the Clash of Clans application along with all associated data, including any information stored in Game Centre.
    2. Obtain a different compatible device, such as an iPod or iPad, that has not previously had Clash of Clans installed.
    3. Set up a new Game Centre account on the device and proceed to download and install Clash of Clans.
    4. Complete the tutorial on your second device and choose a name for your new village.
    5. Access your new Game Centre account on your primary device and reinstall Clash of Clans.
    6. Upon launching the game, you will receive a notification to load the village you created on a different device.

You can enjoy your village across multiple devices simultaneously. Just sign in with your Game Centre Account on the new device and start Clash Of Clans.

Q: What could be the reason for me consistently being targeted by a single unit?

A: These individuals are deliberately reducing their Trophy count. Consequently, you end up acquiring a significant number of Trophies from them. Since Trophy count influences matchmaking, this results in you facing tougher opponents while they encounter easier ones. For further information, refer to Flammy’s Matchmaking Guide: Trophies, Experience, and Town Hall Level. That wraps up my guide for complete beginners. I hope this information helps you start off well. If anyone has suggestions for additions to the FAQ or anything I might have overlooked, please share, and I’ll include it.

Q: Why do I rarely experience attacks?

The frequency of attacks you experience largely depends on your trophy count. As your trophy count increases, the likelihood of being attacked also increases. Generally, attacks are uncommon, particularly when your trophy count is below 500.

As I previously noted, I have a YouTube series that picks up right after my three-day shield concludes. If you’re curious, you can check out Episode 1 here.
